Here is last months itunes playlist of songs that we used during our worship services.
By the way, the new itunes upgrade has actually made it a little harder to find the imix option. It is located on the music page of the itunes store, at the bottom of the right hand column in a box titled "More to Explore".
As a worship ministry, we are trying to think through what kind of resources would be helpful an enjoyable to you. There are all kinds of things that we could try to do, but what type of resources should we really spend our time focusing on. We would love to hear some input from you as to what type of resources would be helpful as you strive for spiritual growth and a heart of worship for our king.
For right now, one of the easiest resources that we can provide for you is access to the songs that we sing on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I can’t actually literally give them to you, but I can tell you who the songs are by and what album to find them on. The simplest way for me to do this is through an Itunes “imix”. This “imix” is simply a playlist that shows the song title, author, and album. From there you can easily purchase the song from itunes or from whatever store you want to.
So, there are two ways you can find these playlist’s, or imix’s. First and easiest, I will publish these playlists to this blog every month. Just check back here on a regular basis and you will see what you are looking for. The other option is to search the itunes store under the category called “imix” (which is in the music section) for ‘Meadowsprings Community Church’. This search should pop up all of our playlists and you can choose whichever one you want. I can give you more detailed instructions if you would like them, or you can simply sit back and check this blog for more updates.
The Worship Appreciation Dinner 2009 was a lot of fun.
It was great to see so many people get into the "second-hand formal" theme and find some great stuff in their closets and at the stores. Hopefully we can post some pictures soon, but to do that I need your pictures. If you were one of the people taking pictures that night could you get me the pictures that you took? As soon as I get those pictures I will make sure to post the award winners and best pics.
Unfortunately, not everybody was able to make it because of a number of scheduling conflicts. We are already looking at the calendar for a better date next year that will allow the majority of us to be there. So for you planners, we will let you know that date as soon as a decision is made.
During the dinner I took the opportunity to share with everybody about a major lesson that God taught me in my life. The lesson may sound simple, but it has truly been an ongoing process. The lesson, simply stated, was to not take myself so seriously because my identity was not my own. God did a number of things in my life to cause me to really question my identity. My identity was something that I was holding on to and taking so seriously that I was missing where my true identity was. Ephesians 2:10 states that we are God's workmanship (the New Living says God's masterpiece). This means that we have been created by God (both physically and spiritually) and that our identity is solely in him. My identity is not in what I can or cannot do, rather it is in Christ. As I was preparing to share this lesson with everybody, I was reminded about how different my focus and attitudes were before I learned this lesson and after. This is not to say that I don't struggle with identity crisis or taking myself too seriously today, because at times I do. However, my focus and attitude have come a long way as I have realized that my identity is in Christ.
Over the next year, I am hoping to unpack some of the ideas of how our own identity issues can hinder our walk with God, as well as our ministry to the body. If you are part of the worship ministry at MSCC and you were not able to be at the Worship Appreciation Dinner, I would strongly encourage you to take the time to listen to this lesson as it lays the foundation for further conversations. If you were at the dinner, or you have just stumbled across this post, I would still encourage you to listen (maybe for a second time) and take a look at Ephesians and allow yourself to wrestle with your own identity and how placing your identity in Christ should actually affect your life.
