Adventure Church?

Church Adventure We hear the phrase a lot around here:  someone has climbed Mt. Hood - "It was a great adventure."  New parents aren't getting any sleep - "This is definitely a challenging adventure!"  Guys and gals from the youth group come back from a missions trip - "Teaching those kids was an awesome adventure."  A family is struggling with loss of income/loss of employment - "We're trusting God, and living the adventure."

In the Meadow Springs family, we're convinced that "living the adventure" is a great way to describe the Christian life.  "Adventure" suggests a journey, and the Bible is wonderfully clear that the life of faith is a journey with God and toward God.  Adventure involves a destination, a goal - becoming all that God made us to be, and enjoying our relationship with Him forever.  Adventure also involves risk - we know the destination, but we don't know what obstacles we might face between here and there.  But we venture out on the journey because there is a great reward, like reaching the summit of a mountain, taking in the view, and feeling the satisfaction of the accomplishment.

We discover our meaning and purpose in life as followers of Jesus Christ.  And we are followers of Jesus in everything we do, in every sphere of life- school, work, recreation, friendships, family, community, church - it's all part of the great adventure?
